🖌 John's Story

Early years

John was born on the 9th of February, 1995, in Oshodi, Lagos.

John fell in love with both writing and drawing early but as entered his teen years, his passion for drawing deepened. From copying cartoons and comics at the back of his fathers morning newspapers to creating interpretations of illustrations, art kept finding him.

He is one of 4 children, coming from a family that have always put creativity at the centre of their household. John has always felt highly encouraged to follow a creative path in careers such as writing, visual arts, theatrical performers and storytelling. John chose to tell his story through painting.

“Nothing makes me more content and at peace than drawing and painting.”

His unique style of subjective painting sets him apart from commercial artists. With his love for line works and bountiful use of colours, his emotions are felt in his art. It is a unique style with a distinctive personality - in which he channels a reflection of his personality in every painting he produces. Each abstract line is a gateway to him, connecting his inner world to his audience.

John studied Fine Arts at Federal Polytechnic in Auchi where he also discovered his first love for colour and a keen interest in line movement with stunning colour combinations, patterns, and rhythms.
